 2023 Preview 


       west limestone completed the 2022 season with a 5-5 record. Last year west limestone finished sixth in Class 4A region seven with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       Since 2010, west limestone has gone a combined 81-61. Their 57.0% winning percentage ranks 22nd in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, west limestone has managed to compile a record of 118-145. Their 45.0% winning percentage ranks 39th in Class 4A and 241st in the AHSAA.




       The Wildcats are led by head coach Shelby Davis who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 30-23 over the past five seasons at west limestone. Under his direction the Wildcats have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Davis.

       The Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region seven this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. west limestone missed the playoffs the past couple of seasons but hope to return to the post season in 2023.

      Easton Smith will be back this season at running back after rushing for 1,272 yards and 20 TDs in 2022.

       The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Ardmore on Friday, August 25 at Cooper Field. Last year the Ardmore Tigers finished with an overall record of 3-7 and in sixth place in Class 5A region eight. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Central Florence by a score of 49-41.

       west limestone and Ardmore have met a total of 74 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 44-29-1 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2022 with west limestone winning by a score of 27-21.
